I made a list of Indian dishes I want to learn how to make. Mostly because I like crossing things off lists and this will help me stay organized. I also want to make sure I continue to teach myself the fundamentals of Indian cooking, so I can one day improvise and create my own dishes….maybe.
The foundation:
- Garam Masala
- Ginger and Garlic Paste
- Ghee (I know how to make this already. I’ll post about it soon!
Okay now onto the good stuff!
- Hyderabadi Biryani
- Vegetable Pakoras
- Baby Eggplant Curry
- Egg Curry
- Lemon Pickle
- Puris
- Chenna Masala
- Bunny Chow (My husband grew up in South Africa so we have some African influence in our home cooking. Don’t worry, there are no bunnies in this dish).
- Aloo curry (potatoes)
- Idly and Sambaar
- Dosa (This one is for Luke. I don’t particularly care for them).
- Paneer – all kinds of paneer
- Tandoori Chicken
This is all I can think of for now, but I’m sure the list will grow as my skills expand!
